We look at God’s word as less than the words of our family, friends, and sometimes even our enemies. A lot of African Americans want to point the finger at the white man and say that slavery is their fault. We, as people, tend to look any and everywhere, except the Bible, for answers. This is a continuation of last week’s episode. We covered what it actually means to be born again. Jesus says that baptism in Jesus’ name and getting the gift of the Holy Ghost is necessary for salvation. Many peoples’ rebuttal will be the thieves on the cross. Jesus said He’d see them in heaven. However, the thieves were not baptized. Many people will say that this, along with many other reasons, makes baptism unnecessary for salvation. But this is not true. Jesus says that we be born again to be saved. But what does ‘being born again’ actually mean? How are we actually saved? Do we just shake the preacher’s hand and repeat the saying, “I believe that Jesus is my personal lord and savior”? Or is it more than that? What about baptism? Is it an outward show of one’s new found life in Christ? Or is it more than that? Is faith alone enough to get into Heaven? We cover all these questions and MUCH more in todays’ episode.
