The Outward Appearance

As people, we fall in love with how things look. We want a nice looking car, house, spouse, yard, hair style, the list goes on and on. While there is nothing wrong with things looking pleasant, we tend to be too appearance-based. With God, many times, things are not how they appear. God allows things to appear one way to test our faith, but in reality, God has the situation already worked out. When we make decisions based on how things look, we are setting ourselves up for failure. Once we actually learn God, we will learn to judge righteously and not rely on the outward appearance. Thankful for Our Father

Life can be hard. Life can get challenging at times. But nevertheless, we have a Father that is loving and will take care of us. This Thanksgiving holiday, we discussed things we have to be thankful for. Due to being mistreated and persecuted, we often feel neglected and upset with God, wondering why he allowed it. So in this lesson, we see that God does take notice and he is keeping note of what our enemies do to us. Thus, we can find solace in knowing that the Lord will avenge us. Moreover, we take a look at the story of Stephen and how he was stoned for the name of Jesus. Although Christ allowed it to occur, he did take offense and stood from his seat(Stephen seeing a vision of heaven while looking up into the clouds). So it is one thing for certain, Christ will repay all of our evil and good works. So we pray you remember this holiday season that God is merciful and will not forget anything that we endure for his name’s sake.

Evil Turned to Good

We, as a people, tend to get discouraged and even upset with God when bad things happen to us. It’s true; when you’re truly following God, there are going to be all sorts of things that try to knock you off your path. Jesus Himself promised this. In this week’s Bible study, we take a look at Joseph. Many evil things happened to him. His brothers wanted to kill him but ultimately ended up selling him into slavery where he would be for ~13 years. This isn’t even scratching the surface. We take a deep dive into the Bible and see what God did about all of this.

The Shadow of Jesus Christ

In this lesson, we discuss how being baptized of water and spirit was foreshadowed in the Old Testament with Moses leading the children of Israel through the Red Sea and being led by God with the use of a cloud. The cloud represents being baptized by the spirit, and the Red Sea represents being baptized of water.
